71 an hour 1 day ago 1 day ago 1 day ago Position Summary Position responsible for performing clerical and secretarial duties in support of unit operations with heavy reliance on manual and/or computer processes.
Such processes may involve compilation of reports, file maintenance, and general training of other clerical staff.
The work involves providing office support services such as telephone, receptionist, and other office/tasks as well as some animal care.
Position works under general supervision of a manager for work assignments, direction, and supervision.
Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.
Position Responsibilities 1.
Receives, screens, and dispatches telephone calls; queries callers and transfers or refers call to appropriate staff or other offices.
2.
Greets and assists all visitors of the Animal Shelter.
3.
Processes adoptions and redemptions of animals 4.
Composes and types correspondences, schedules, tables, statements, and other material from copy or rough draft.
5.
Provides general training of other clerical personnel and volunteers.
6.
Maintains appointment calendars.
7.
Receives and routes mail; directs items to other staff or offices as appropriate.
8.
Prepares purchase requisitions and receives and checks items ordered.
9.
Receives and assists visitors in the office; queries visitors and directs them to appropriate staff or offices.
10.
Maintains office records, including data collection, billing, and other records.
11.
Maintains various office files.
12.
Assists with the care of animals as needed.
Minimum Qualification Requirements Education Completion of 8th grade and ability to read, write and follow instructions.
High School diploma or GED preferred.
Experience Minimum of one (1) year clerical, dispatch and/or secretarial experience; additional courses such as business administration, office management, or closely related field.
Prior experience in a Veterinary Clinic or Animal Shelter preferred.
Certificate(s) and/or License(s) 1.
Possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license with no more than three (3) points.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 1.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
2.
Proficiency with Business English, spelling, punctuation and grammar.
3.
Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally.
4.
Ability to establish and maintain efficient office procedures.
5.
Ability to establish and maintain a system for keeping track of requested actions and reports.
6.
Ability to operate a telephone system and communicate effectively by phone.
7.
Ability to type with speed and accuracy.
8.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
9.
Knowledge of computer applications and operations, including Microsoft Office.
